David Earl Swaim, age 82 of Marion, Illinois, died Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Integrity Rehabilitation Center. He was born on March 9, 1940, in Vermillion County, Indiana, son of William Swaim and Mary Frances Cox Swaim. He married Guyann Gleason on September 30, 1961, at Rush Creek Friends Church in rural Parke County, Indiana. Together they shared 60 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Guyann Swaim, his two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Jay Tuttle of Travelers Rest, South Carolina and Sheila and Mark Fisher of Marion, Illinois; his two grandchildren, Ryan Fisher and Sara Fisher, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bonner Swaim.

David worked for the Rock Island Railroad for several years. He sent train orders using Morse Code. He retired from Information Providers Incorporated in 2006. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and for several years enjoyed going to Wrigley Field to see games with his daughter, Sheila. Every year he enjoyed visiting his daughter, Lisa and seeing the many historic sites on the east coast. Over the years he dearly loved all his family pets. His family enjoyed listening to him share funny stories resulting in heartfelt laughter.

In accordance with his wishes, he will have a private family funeral with Pastor, Steve Utley officiating. Burial will be at Rush Creek Cemetery in Tangier, Indiana. Binkley-Ross Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
